Bruce Stone and Nicole Breault won the J/105 class in the Cleveland Race Week Offshore Regatta, following up on their victory last weekend in Cleveland One Design Regatta. Running a two-boat program, with J/105 Arbitrage in San Francisco and J/105 Arbitrade on the East Coast, they brought the latter to Cleveland for these warmup regattas in advance of the North Americans being hosted by Edgewater Yacht Club in late September. “We were blown away by the hospitality here in Cleveland and the tremendous shoreside team at EYC, who stepped our rig and launched our boat, provided a prime berth for our two-week visit, and hauled us out right after racing. The on the water group were also stellar, patiently waited for the wind to fill on the light days and getting us going through today’s serious SF Bay like conditions. Our team was great at switching gears and we went from cabin top sheeting to leeward sheeting and finally cross-sheeting in the 20+ winds that we faced to finish the regatta. We look forward to coming back here in late September for the 216 Regatta and the J/105 NAs. We also fleshed out the days in between the two regattas by taking our team to the Rolling Stones in concert, then the Cleveland Guardians baseball team, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and finally the excellent Cleveland Museum of Art.” See results at www.Clevelandraceweek.com. Arbitrade also topped the J/105s in the prior weekend’s one-design series.
