The St. Francis Yacht Club held its annual J/105 Women’s Skipper Invitational on its fleet of J/105s. Nine women’s skippers took up the challenge, and a total of four races were sailed over the weekend. Sailing BLACKHAWK, skipper Molly Carapiet and her crew of Vicki Fennell, Ryan Simmons, Brent Draney, Jeremy Herzog and Shawn Bennett dominated the regatta with four straight bullets. A perennial winner of the event over the past few years, Nicole Breault, sailed a solid regatta on ELCHEMY to take the silver with a 3-2-6-3 tally for 14 points. Her crew consisted of husband Bruce Stone, Hailey Thompson, Lucy Wilmot, Collette Zaro and Kate Shiber. Rounding out the podium was Kate Molitor on SHARKEY. Her crew of Candice Wozniak, Sofia O’Hara, Linda Bradford, Ty Molitor, Abbie Gregor and Oslo Jacobson sailed a consistent series of 5-3-2-6 for 16 points. Completing the top five was Beth Newman’s AQUAVIT in fourth place with 16 points (losing the tiebreaker with SHARKEY) and Samantha Gebb’s PEACHES in fifth place with 21 points.
